Moon Called (Mercy Thompson #1)

Moon Called (Mercy Thompson #1) by Patricia Briggs

Mercedes 'Mercy' Thompson is a Volkswagen mechanic that lives in the Tri-Cities area of Washington. She is also a walker, a shapeshifter able to turn into a coyote in the blink of an eye. She also happens to live next to a sexy alpha werewolf, is fixing a bus for a Scooby-Doo loving Vampire, and her former boss is a Fae. All seems fine when an unknown wolf shows up looking for a job and bringing trouble with him. Mercedes is tasked with helping him out and trying to keep the pack from being caught unawares and killing this rogue wolf. When unknown killers and things that go bump at night come out to play, Mercy has to figure out who's the culprit or lose the only friends she knows and her life.

Okay, so I really enjoyed this book for many reasons.
The writing style for one, I love finding books like this one in the sci-fi fantasy genre that has just the right balance between teen writing and adult writing that makes it an easy book to devour. I really enjoyed her exasperation to the boys, former love and current love interest(at least mine for her) who were trying to show who was the better wolf. I personally really enjoyed Adam(current love interest), he was what you expect from a werewolf, macho, stubborn, is ready to take on anyone who threatens his loved ones and wants to protect all his wolves and Mercy. Sam was also an interesting addition, with his a Mercy's background I was surprised and was just chanting in my head, 'No, no, no I want you to be with Adam, don't you dare go to the former love.' I also enjoyed Mercy, while she wasn't completely badass and all fighting like some heroines she definitely wasn't a pushover and I enjoyed her personality and I liked who she is as a person and she is just so much cooler than the wolves cause she's a coyote. I also loved that she wasn't all whiny about what she is and wanting to be human and making me be like:
I also did this once I'd finished the book and wanted the second.

The book was good, it could be said that it was a little slow I think it's a super fun read, and I loved the whole 'Lamb of God' thing. (I really liked how she used it instead of something else) If you enjoy shifters, vampires, and a little bit of mystery this book is for you. I personally enjoyed it and can't wait to get the rest in the series, the noises I made knowing I don't have them made one of my dogs look at me funny though. I am pining for her and Adam to get together as this goes on. If you wanted romance scenes, well this book doesn't have any, it could in future books, but I think if there are, Patricia is gonna make us wait. While it had some sarcasm it didn't have the extreme amount like Sherrilyn Kenyon and others. It's still a very enjoyable book and for people who read Sci-Fi fantasy such as Sara Humphreys, Seanan McGuire, Chloe Neill(some of my favorite authors), I'd definitely suggest this book.

A note from Adam to Mercy in Moon Called:
'Ms. Thompson, please keep your feline off my property. If I see it again, I will eat it.'
Don't know if he was being sarcastic or not but I for one snorted at this.

Overall it was a good book, a quick read.
